About Us

Dear Asian Youth at State College is focused on empowering Asian youth through community building events, social journalism, and celebrating Asian artists and creators. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our projects are centered around equity and inclusivity.

Velvet is a high school student at State College Area High School and a co-founder of Dear Asian Youth at State College with Karen. She is an avid reader and problem solver, and can be found reading Wikipedia articles throughout the day. She is also interested in astronomy, plays the violin, and loves going to the pool in the summer.

Karen is a Chapter Co-Lead for the Dear Asian Youth State College Chapter. She is a junior at State College Area High School interested in STEM. As an editor and graphic designer for the chapter, she enjoys learning about different cultures and trying new things. She loves drawing and singing in her free time and collecting mugs from her travels.

Claire Fox is a sophomore at State High. They're very passionate about local and national political issues. In her sparse amounts of free time they like to hang out with friends and those close to her, read (if possible), play flute, go biking, or crochet.

Krystal is a junior at State College Area High School. Outside of here academics, she also is a peer advocate for mental health issues. In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, reading, and hanging out with friends and family.
